RE: Diesel electric heaters

Usually heats water in a Diesel. 2-3 hours, but if electric bill isn't a problem, then just plug it in.
Just bought one for one of our trucks and thats what the specs said. 2 to 3 hrs. So just set the timer for 2 hr. and if not warm increase time to more.

RE: leveling jack and tire

No, however I have left my MH with all four wheels off the ground for weeks so why couldn't you change a tire with them.

I've been lucky enough to have only almost blown up a fresh water tank.
Same here. That gave me enough of a scare.

RE: CDL's and workkamping

I do believe a CDL is a Fed. license per say overlooked by the States. I got mine when they came out "company I worked for gave it to me". When I retired in 03 I have kelp it. All I had to do was take a color test which is not required on regular test and must have 20 20 eyes with glases. Never been ask for Med. cerf and never renewed it. The company you work for will require that. I have a class a with trailer and air brakes cerf. I think I have renewed my lic. 3 times sense I retired.

RE: Camping at Wal Mart

If I were the local gov. I would require all box stores to collect a $1 deposit for the use of a cart…
If people didn’t want to return them I would do it for them…
Hey JJBIRSH
Good Idea but it's been done.
Do you have any ALDIES stores by you
The carts are not a dollar (Their 25cents) but you get your quarter back if you return the cart....Been going for years now and have only once got an extra quater back once because some one else was to lazy to return it...
Its done in Canada just as the post says. Put 50 cents in get cart, return get 50 back. You can find carts on lot where left by someone to lazy to return and use it and get their money back when you return it.

RE: Transmission Failure Allison 4000

We have some of those in our school buses and they make continuous starts and stops. On my 1 1/2 hr. run I never get up to 35 mph and the trans has 97,000 on it now on 2001 bus. That is a lot of starts & stops.
The trans. I was speaking of is in a garbage truck. Had 90k but was out of 1 year warrenty because garbage trucks are warrenty for only. 1 year othwise it has warrenty for 3 years. When we put the rebuilt in they gave us a 2 year warrenty. Now guess that. MOHO

RE: Transmission Failure Allison 4000

My friend has a truck that just had the tran. rebuilt and it was $ 10 K. It just went dead. No noiseor anything. Had 90k on it. I think it was a 4k trans. All that writing is nothing. Bottom line is Dig. trans and R/R. plus reman. trans or parts.
They have no heart on them prices. MO2cents

RE: no hot water

Check valve on output line from your hotwater may have gone bad. Mine did this past spring and, like you, could get hot water. Easy to change, just awkward to get too.
Same here. Just removed mine because I don't put AF in lines for winter, just blow out. I'd bet on check valves. MOHO

RE: Electrical Plug

DH is "on the road" and he spoke to an electrical technician and that technician says the "outlet" in the RV may have a loose wire or the screws on the outlet may be loose.
You should have checked the outlet as the Tech advised before installing a new cord.

RE: Closure of African American Camping Topic

Obviously, the moderators feel uncomfortable about it. OR, they want to eliminate the risk of having a race riot. Me? I sure would like to tell ya'll my perspective on the subject of minority RVers. But alas, my post would be deleted.
Well I'm going along with Cloud Dancer on this one. Most of the time it depends on color as to what can be said and not said. One sided. MOHO

RE: HWH Hydraulic Problem

It just MAY be the soleniod. Mine did the same thing and I was in NM and bought a Ford to make do till got home. To check its very easy. Just bypass the solenid the next time it does it. Use plairs and touch the two big wires togather. If thats what it is you can make do by bypassing it till you can get one. MOHO CharWan Happy Trails

RE: Results-test drive-Bounder w/2 degree Castor shims

Increasing caster will NOT stop shimmy, but can in fact increase it. What more caster will do it make the chassis track in a straight line. If you have a shimmy problem, which is common on several of the Ford straight axle chassis such as F450 and F53, what you need is a steering damper and a panhard arm (track bar).
Well SAID. Anything to stop wondering is to check toe in. MOHO

RE: Jeep toad tries passing the MH while on the interstate!

Those old blue ox units have been replaced with easy disconnect design that don't require level areas or even being straight. Just remember to put the brake on in the toad, before you unhook. They have disconnect arms that take the pressure off the ends so it will come off easy.
I used my Blue Ox as a ladder one time and stepped on the disconnect arms and it stayed down and I didn't see it. I started to drive on down the road and I looked in the mirror and there was the toad. It could not get away but I might have side swiped something with it if I had not seen it. M2cents
